As Lead Engineer for civil, structural and geotechnical works you close the loop between the ground investigation, the supplier’s design and the layout that actually gets built. You scope the geotechnical investigation, specify the pile test regime and interrogate what comes back, then hold the substructure suppliers to it — and own earthworks, drainage, access tracks, trench design and the permitting conditions that constrain all of it. Detailed foundation design sits with consultants and suppliers; your job is to define what they deliver, judge whether the result is buildable, and hold the line when a layout optimisation quietly creates a drainage or access problem.
Key responsibilities
- Scope the geotechnical investigation and specify the pile test regime
- Interrogate pile test results and hold substructure suppliers to the ground conditions
- Review foundation and mechanical design, module mounting and installation tolerances
- Review inverter and MV station foundations and substation civils
- Own earthworks, grading, drainage and surface water management
- Own access tracks, haul and crane routes, trench design and cable route civils
- Own fencing, boundary works and temporary works
- Manage the planning and permitting conditions that constrain the works
About you
- Typically 7–10 years of engineering experience — a centre of gravity, not a cut-off
- Designed or reviewed groundworks and structures that were then actually built
- Background may be civil or structural consultancy, EPC, infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, ports, roads, wind foundations or heavy industrial construction
- Mechanical engineers with steel structures and installation methodology experience are equally relevant
- Able to get a supplier’s engineering team to engage with a ground report rather than apply a standard solution
- Comfortable reopening work that other disciplines already consider finished
- Solar experience welcome but not required
- Fluent in English; Danish useful but not required
