As HSE Manager you lead the day-to-day implementation of health, safety and environmental requirements on renewable energy construction sites in Ireland, primarily utility-scale solar PV. You own the Project HSE Plan, the Construction Environmental Management Plan and the associated sub-plans, registers and records, and you verify that site activity complies with Irish legislation, planning conditions, permits and client requirements. You work closely with clients, subcontractors, internal teams and the relevant authorities across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare, manage and update the Project HSE Plan, CEMP, Environmental and Traffic Management Plans
  • Maintain the associated sub-plans, registers and records
  • Ensure compliance with Irish HSE and environmental legislation, planning conditions, licences and permits
  • Carry out site inspections, audits and safety and environmental reviews
  • Review contractor competence, RAMS, risk assessments, method statements, permits to work and training records
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and targeted HSE training, and maintain the training matrix
  • Monitor controls for traffic, waste, pollution prevention, dust, noise, water, drainage and protected habitats
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Liaise with the client, designers, subcontractors, local authorities, the HSA and the EPA

About you

  • Relevant qualification in occupational health and safety, environmental management or a related discipline
  • Recognised professional certification is an advantage
  • At least 5 years of HSE experience in Irish construction
  • Experience from utility-scale solar PV projects strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish construction safety legislation and the PSCS/PSDP framework
  • Familiar with environmental regulation, planning conditions and construction-related permits
  • Experience preparing CEMPs, HSE plans, audit programmes, permit-to-work systems and incident investigations
  • Willing to work on PV construction sites and travel to projects across Ireland
