Some roles are about managing what already exists.
This one is about defining what does not exist yet.
Technica is looking for a Technical Director - Data Center Energy Infrastructure to lead the technical development of a planned multi-hundred-megawatt data center campus in Denmark, supported by a renewable and grid-based energy infrastructure ecosystem.
The project is in mid-stage development. The ambition is clear. The land, planning and permitting process is moving forward. But the technical concept for the energy infrastructure still needs to be created, challenged and matured into an executable direction.
That is where you come in.
The solution may include grid connection, high-voltage infrastructure, substations, battery energy storage, renewable energy generation, energy management systems, SCADA, advanced cooling, heat recovery, thermal storage and future hydrogen readiness.
Your role will be to turn that complexity into a clear technical direction.
You will connect the data center requirements with the power concept, cooling strategy, renewable energy strategy, grid connection, permitting pathway, commercial case and future operating model. You will help define what should be built, how it should be phased, which technologies should be prioritized, where the risks are and what kind of technical organization is needed to deliver the project.
You will work from the owner side. That means you will not simply manage an engineering package. You will shape the technical foundation before the major decisions are locked.
As the project matures, you will build and lead the owner’s Technology Organization, including the internal capabilities, external advisors, suppliers and technical decision processes required to move from concept to execution.
This is not a conventional engineering role. It is not a construction management role. It is a rare opportunity to define the technical foundation of one of Denmark’s most ambitious energy and infrastructure projects.
We are looking for someone who can work in uncertainty, structure complexity, challenge assumptions and make good decisions before all answers are obvious.
You may come from energy, data centers, utilities, infrastructure, industrial power systems, mission-critical facilities or large-scale project development. What matters is not a specific academic path. What matters is your ability to lead complex technical development, build strong teams, manage senior stakeholders and turn ambition into an executable project.
Relevant experience may include high-voltage infrastructure, grid connection processes, substations, owner’s engineering, EPC or supplier strategy, mission-critical infrastructure, power systems, energy storage, renewables, cooling systems, SCADA, energy management systems or the development of large technical organizations.
You do not need to have done this exact project before. Very few people have. But you must be able to understand the whole system, identify what matters, ask the right questions and lead experienced specialists with confidence.
At Technica, you will join a young, fast-growing company working across photovoltaic, wind and battery energy storage projects across Europe. We are part of the renewable energy transition, but we are not here to write reports about it from a distance. We develop projects, solve problems, take responsibility and move things forward.
You will work directly with senior decision-makers, developers, investors, utilities, suppliers, advisors and experienced project teams. You will have real ownership, short decision paths and the opportunity to shape not only this project, but also how Technica develops and delivers large-scale energy infrastructure in the future.
The role can be based in Herning or Køge (Copenhagen). Remote work is possible as much as reasonable for the role and project needs.
This role is for someone who wants responsibility before everything is defined.
Someone who is motivated by renewable energy, large-scale infrastructure and the challenge of making a hyperscale campus work in a future power system dominated by intermittent generation.
Someone who can think strategically, act practically and lead with confidence when the map is still being drawn.
If this sounds like the kind of challenge you have been looking for, we would like to hear from you.
