About Technica

Technica is a project delivery and construction management company supporting owners, investors and EPC contractors across renewable energy, data centers, grid infrastructure, battery storage and industrial facilities.

We provide hands-on project leadership and technical execution for complex infrastructure projects across Europe. Our teams work close to the contracts, close to the site and close to the decisions that determine schedule, cost, quality and safety.

We are a lean and experienced organization with short decision paths and direct responsibility. Rather than advising from the sidelines, we become part of the project organization and take active responsibility for moving projects forward.

About the Role

Technica is looking for an experienced Project Director to help establish and lead the owner-side Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) organization for a planned hyperscale data center campus in Denmark.

Unlike many Project Director roles, this position does not begin with a fully established organization, mature processes and clearly defined work packages. The project organization, execution strategy, governance, delivery processes and supply chain are still being developed. You will therefore have significant influence on how the project is structured, organized and delivered.

Working closely with Technica’s existing organization and senior management, you will help build the project delivery organization required to take the project from development and planning through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

As Project Director, you will act as the senior delivery lead within the owner-side EPCM organization. You will be responsible for converting the project ambition into a structured, controlled and executable delivery model, including the project organization, governance structure, project controls, procurement strategy, contracting approach and reporting framework.

You will lead the coordination of the project’s principal workstreams, including civil works, grid and high-voltage infrastructure, mission-critical mechanical and electrical systems, utilities, site logistics, long-lead equipment, commissioning and operational readiness.

Together with Technica’s wider organization, you will identify, appoint and manage the consultants, contractors, suppliers and specialist partners required to deliver the project.

This is not a role focused only on governance and reporting. You will remain close to execution, engage directly with project teams and stakeholders and intervene where required to maintain control of scope, programme, cost, quality and risk.

The role requires someone who can create structure in a developing environment, build an effective delivery organization and make sound decisions before every detail has been defined.

The role reports to Technica’s Director of Project Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the owner-side EPCM delivery of the project.
  • Establish and maintain the project execution plan, governance model and overall delivery strategy.
  • Build the project organization together with Technica’s existing organization and senior management.
  • Define the required internal roles, external advisors, delivery partners and specialist functions.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, reporting lines and interfaces across programme management, engineering, procurement, commercial management, construction, HSE, quality, commissioning and project controls.
  • Lead and coordinate senior discipline leads, functional managers, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain overall project-level responsibility for budget, forecasting, cash flow, commercial exposure and financial performance.
  • Act as the main project-level P&L owner, working closely with Technica’s finance, commercial and senior management functions.
  • Develop and maintain the integrated master programme covering design, permitting, procurement, early works, construction, energization, commissioning and handover.
  • Establish stage-gate governance and ensure that key investment, procurement and technical decisions are supported by clear and timely information.
  • Lead the development of the procurement, packaging and contracting strategy.
  • Oversee the prequalification, tendering, evaluation and appointment of designers, contractors, suppliers and specialist partners.
  • Support the early procurement and management of major long-lead equipment and critical systems.
  • Lead the integration of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, grid, utility and commissioning workstreams.
  • Establish and manage project controls covering cost, schedule, progress, risk, change, interfaces and reporting.
  • Maintain oversight of contracts, variations, claims, commercial exposure and delivery risk.
  • Ensure that the project is designed and delivered in accordance with the owner’s requirements, applicable tenant requirements, relevant standards and agreed project objectives.
  • Coordinate critical interfaces between the owner, designers, authorities, utilities, contractors, suppliers and future operators.
  • Lead planning for mobilization, site establishment, temporary infrastructure, logistics, access and construction readiness.
  • Ensure that HSE, quality, constructability and commissioning requirements are embedded from the beginning.
  • Drive operational readiness, testing, commissioning, handover and acceptance.
  • Provide clear and timely reporting to Technica’s senior management and the owner’s governance bodies.
  • Identify emerging risks and constraints early and ensure that appropriate mitigation measures and decisions are implemented.
  • Establish a project culture based on accountability, transparency, collaboration and disciplined execution.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to the continued development of Technica’s major-project delivery model and processes.

About You

You are a senior project leader with experience from major capital projects and complex multidisciplinary delivery organizations.

You understand that delivering a hyperscale data center is not simply a construction exercise. It requires the integration of power, cooling, civil works, utilities, controls, logistics, supply chain, commissioning and operational requirements into one coherent delivery programme.

You can lead experienced technical and commercial specialists without needing to be the expert in every discipline. You are able to challenge assumptions, identify the issues that matter and make decisions at project level without losing sight of execution detail.

You are commercially strong and comfortable taking responsibility for project performance, risk and client outcomes.

You are also comfortable building an organization from an early stage. You do not require every process, role and interface to be predefined before you can begin.

We expect that you have:

  • More than 10 years of experience in major project, programme, EPCM or construction delivery.
  • Previous experience as a Project Director, Programme Director, Senior Project Manager or in a comparable senior delivery role.
  • A proven track record of delivering large and complex capital projects.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project organizations and senior functional leads.
  • Experience from owner-side project management, EPCM, programme management, construction management or a comparable delivery model.
  • Responsibility for projects involving significant capital expenditure, complex interfaces and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in project governance, project controls, procurement, commercial management and risk management.
  • Experience developing and implementing project execution plans, organizational structures and management processes.
  • Strong commercial capability, including budget ownership, forecasting, contracts, change, claims and risk exposure.
  • Experience establishing and managing procurement and contracting strategies for consultants, contractors, suppliers and major equipment packages.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with owners, investors, authorities, utilities, consultants, contractors and senior decision-makers.
  • The ability to work strategically while remaining close to practical project execution.
  • The confidence to operate effectively in a fast-moving and developing project environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel and to be regularly present near the project, depending on the project phase.

Direct hyperscale datacenter or mission-critical facility experience is strongly preferred but not mandatory.

Candidates with relevant experience from major infrastructure, industrial facilities, power generation, grid and high-voltage infrastructure, utilities, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceuticals or similarly complex technical projects are also encouraged to apply.

Why Join Us?

This role offers the opportunity to help establish the delivery organization for one of Denmark’s most ambitious planned infrastructure projects.

You will join Technica at a point where both the project and our capability within large-scale critical infrastructure are developing rapidly. You will have substantial influence over how the project is organized, controlled and delivered, while working directly with experienced colleagues and senior decision-makers.

You will have:

  • A central role in defining the project execution strategy, organization, processes and supply chain.
  • Significant project-level responsibility and influence from an early stage.
  • The opportunity to build and lead a substantial multidisciplinary delivery organization.
  • Direct access to Technica’s senior management.
  • Short decision paths and the ability to turn decisions into action.
  • Responsibility across the full project lifecycle, from planning through construction, commissioning and handover.
  • The opportunity to contribute to how Technica develops and delivers future major infrastructure and data-center projects.
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial working environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Strong opportunities for professional and personal development.

The role may be based in Herning, Køge or the Rødby area.

The required level of project and site presence will depend on the project phase. Regular presence near the project should be expected, with significant site presence likely during mobilization and construction.
